23rd March 2009
Avishayes A 5 v 1 Pinhoe Spartans
Goals: Daniel Green

A hard fought game against the team that is going to win the league.

The boys started really well and created some good chances which they were unable to convert, however they still were playing some good football and they got there just reward when Daniel Green scored after a goal mouth scramble.

After the goal Avishayes A managed to take a firmer grip on the games and scored 2 goals just before half time.

The second half continued with Avishayes A dominating the game and with Pinhoe defending most of the time unfortunatly Avishayes scored a further 3 goals.

5-1 does sound like a bit of a hammering but this was not the case at all the boys played really well however they will need to step up there game to compete with teams like Avishayes next season which I am sure they will be able to.

15th March 2009
Pinhoe Spartans 5 v 0 Feniton
Goals: Finnley Slack, Lewis Hawkins, Josh Lowrie, Kieran Horn, Daniel Green

A game played on a very small pitch which the boys struggled on with not a lot of space available for their normal passing game.Feniton and Pinhoe were very evenly matched but again the boys were slow to react to the ball and always seemed to be second best with 50/50 balls. They did however soak up a lot of pressure from the home side and credit must go to Sam Beer and Joe Cockram for some great defending. The boys battled hard and got their reward when Finnley scored with a smart shot. Pinhoe continued to press forward and secored again just before half time after a scramble in the Feniton goalmouth Lewis calmly slotted home from close range to make it 2-0 at half time.

In the second half it was more of the same as Pinhoe battled hard and won a lot more of the ball, Josh Lowrie scored a goal with speculative shot from the half-way line which bounced right over the Feniton goalie`s head!! Kieran Horn scored after a goal kick from Ellis Burgess which Kieran helped on and in doing so completely changed the balls direction and the Fention goalkeeper could only watch as the ball went pass him. Daniel Green scored Pinhoe`s fifth after good work from Finnley to create a chance which Daniel converted well.

A good result for the boys who worked hard for the victory.

Avishayes B 0 v 5 Pinhoe Spartans
Goals: Josh Lowrie 2, Lewis Hawkins, Kieran Horn, Daniel Green

Fairly easy going for the boys once they got started, however Avishayes B made them work a lot harder than they thought they would have to.Avishayes wanted the ball a lot more than Pinhoe and where our boys would wait for the ball to come to them their opponents would just go and get it! Thankfully Pinhoe started play a bit of football and realised that they would have to fight for the ball and battle for posession to get anything from the game and with this in mind they scored to be 1-0 at half time through Josh Lowrie.

In the second half Pinhoe scored 2 quick goals just after the re start through Lewis Hawkins and Kieran Horn a further goal by Daniel Green soon followed to put the boys 4-0 up. Josh Lowrie scored his second and Pinhoe`s fifth goal shortly before full time. The boys made this game a lot harder than it needed to be and must start a lot quicker in the up and coming games in order to get the result that are capable of.

15th February 2009
Exmouth Amateur Youth 3 v 1 Pinhoe Spartans
Goals: Kieran Horn

A real tough match for the boys against an Exmouth team who are second place in the league. Exmouth controlled the game from start to finish and were always a lot quicker to the ball then we were, however the boys played well in patches and took the lead with a goal from Kieran Horn after good approach play from Lewis Hawkins.Unfortunately Exmouth started to win every second ball and it was really no surprise when they equalised mid way through the first half and then scored again just before half time. The second half was very much the same story with Exmouth controlling the game through the midfield and knocking the ball around well. The boys didn`t give and Kieran Horn had a good shot which was well saved by the Exmouth goalie. This gave the boys a bit of a lift and they played their best football of the game. Exmouth unfortunatly scored again towards the end making the final score 3-1. Special mention for Finnley, Daniel, Joe, Josh and Sam who never gave up and worked hard against an Exmouth team that played really well. This was a good test for the boys and we need raise our game to compete against the better sides.

1st February 2009
Seaton 4 v 4 Pinhoe Spartans
Goals: Lewis Hawkins 1, Kieran Horn 3

Talk about a game of 2 halves the boys were dreadful in the first half, but absolutely superb in the second. The boys didn`t start very well and Seaton were first to every ball and seemed to want it a lot more. We were quickly 2 goals down and had no cohesion. We conceded a further 2 goals and were 4-0 down at half time. However, the 2nd half was a different story. We managed to regain our shape and started to play some decent football and it was no suprise when Kieran Horn pulled a goal back after being put through by Lewis Hawkins. Kieran returned the favour a minute later and Lewis cooly slotted home from close range. The third goal was a bit of a goal mouth scramble from a corner and the ball broke to Kieran who scored with a sweet left foot shot. The boys were really pushing for the equaliser and Kieran scored direct from a corner to make it 4-4! All credit to the boys for coming back when they looked dead and buried and thanks also for the fantastic support from the touchline.

30th November 2008
Pinhoe Spartans 3 v 2 Feniton
Goals: Lewis Hawkins 1, Kieran Horn 2 and Own Goal

This was a match where the boys played really well in the first half and not so good in the second half.We started really well and were quickly a goal up through Kieran Horn with a cool finish after the goalie saved his first effort. The second goal was a result of great play between the two strikers Lewis Hawkins broke forward and played a delightful one-two with Kieran Horn,Lewis then rifled the ball home to make 2-0 unfortunatly Kieran was injured in the build up to the goal and had to come off being replaced by Brandon Evans almost immediately we suffered another injury this time to Daniel Green who was replaced by Lewis Willey these changes disrupted the team and althrough the boys still tried hard we lost our shape completely which allowed Feniton more time and space on the ball however we scored a third abet an own goal against the run of play but Feniton then scored two quick goals near the end to make it a nervous last couple of minutes for the boys but they managed to hold on for the win.

23rd November 2008
Honiton 1 v 3 Pinhoe Spartans
Goals: Lewis Hawkins 1, Kieran Horn 2

A game played in differcult conditions with driving rain and a boggy pitch and not a lot of flowing football being played. However Pinhoe made the best of it and started pretty well with a number of chances which they failed to convert in to goals which would unfortunatly come back to haunt them later in the half as Honiton scored completely against the run of play, but despite going a goal down the boys continued to try and play some football and Lewis Hawkins scored towards the end of the first half.In the second half Pinhoe were a lot more up for it and we put ourselves firmly in the driving seat when Kieran Horn received a super pass from Lewis Hawkins to calmly put us 2-1 up with a cool finish. Kieran Horn scored his second goal when he jinked through the Honiton defence to make 3-1.A great win for the boys who all worked hard in testing conditions.

Player of Match: Kieran Horn

9th November 2008
Pinhoe Spartans 3 v 0 Honiton
Goals: Lewis Hawkins 2, Daniel Green

As the old saying goes you only get out what you put in and this is certainly true with regards to this game. The boys started well and the midfield battle was going to be crucial. Gradually we managed to get a foothold in the centre of the park with both Josh Lowrie and Daniel Green stamping their authority on the game. Kieran Horn had a great chance to score but the goalie made a super stop, however Lewis Hawkins was on hand to stick the rebound away 1-0. Towards the end of the first half a defence splitting pass by Lewis Willey found Lewis Hawkins in acres of space who cooly slotted home his and Pinhoe`s second goal. After the break the boys continued to dominate the game and went close on several ocassions in particular Kieran Horn who seemed to find the Honiton goalie playing the game of his life! Daniel Green scored the 3rd and final goal with a great strike from just outside the penalty area. A great result for the boys who thoroughly deserved this win as they have been playing really well of late and not getting the right result.

Player of Match: Josh Lowrie
